September 2014: SOMETHING FOR BEING ADNAN MAHMUTOVIC
This month, Features Editor Rae Joyce took a graphic approach to explore the theme of trust in award-winning writer Adnan Mahmutovic‘s short story collection, How to Fare Well and Stay Fair. What began as an online chat, almost a joke between friends, evolved into a moving and insightful testimony.

Adnan Mahmutović (1974) became a refugee of war in 1993 and ended up in Sweden. He worked for a decade with people with brain damage while studying English and philosophy. He has PhD in English literature and MFA in creative writing, and he is currently a lecturer and writer-in-residence at the Department of English, Stockholm University. His stories have dealt with contemporary European history and the issues of identity and home for Bosnian refugees.
